Create!

Create

I didn't get my work-in-progress finished in time to post a picture, so I thought I'd post one from awhile ago.

I used to keep myself from painting because I couldn't come to terms with not being perfect. In the last few years, I've released that expectation and allowed myself to play--it's been a freeing journey. This painting was born during my time of letting go and enjoying the process.

I love how from a blank canvas, something new can emerge. And although this painting has wings  made of paintbrushes, your wings may be made of music notes, words, clothes or clay. Whatever your passion, I hope this painting inspires you to create.

    1. It's funny I've noticed that I gravitate to purple, pink, and a vibrant blue. They (and orange as a close second) seem to show up in all my paintings.

    1. Good for you!! I think I had it in my mind there was a "right" way to do it. But art is creative, so how can there be a right way?

  4. I love the paint brush wings - it is as if the paint brushes are letting her learn how to fly.

    1. Oh yes, I agree! Writing must have room to romp without perfectionism hanging over your shoulder.

  17. Perfect is so overrated, where do you go from perfect? Keep playing! :)) Adorable painting, love the eyelashes! <3

  18. Oooh, I love the background on this one--the way the wings are a bit transparent with that gorgeous background shining through! I have been playing with collage a lot more lately too and I especially love the way it helps with that fear of the blank canvas. I struggle a lot with feeling like I need to be perfect and I've discovered the trick of starting out ON PURPOSE with the intention of a painting being imperfect...it helps me to enjoy creating so much more!
