Three Twins
I feel lucky in life; I have two best girlfriends. One who's known me since birth. Literally. And the other who calls herself "the third twin". (Yes I know it should be triplet but she prefers her title) With them I can be myself. A brat at times. Hyper at others. Silly, thoughtful, optimistic, and morose--it doesn't matter. They stick around. Even when I make them mad. They love me and I love them.
Who are your closest friends?

I have four close friends...three of which I see very sporadically. The first and foremost is my wife. Then there's my high school buddy, my college buddy, and my ex-job buddy. I wish we all lived closer together...ALOT!
ReplyDeleteTHE PERFECT post for today! There is NOTHING like a good girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteLast month, I took my family to San Diego to meet up with my two best girls: one friend since kindergarten, the other since high school. It was fabulous!
My eleven year old daughter has a really good friend, Gracia. It's all I wish for her.
My really good friends don't live by me. The people I consider my best friends are the ones I can not see for a long time and then when we meet again, it's like we were never apart. One is a friend I've known since childhood. One is a roommate I had in college and they other used to live in the same neighborhood I live now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork - love it!!!
ReplyDeleteMy closest friends are my sister in Seattle, a girlfriend 4 hours away, and a buddy right here in town. I'd be lost without them. :-)
I like that ... the 'third twin'! :-) Close friends, such as yours, are a wonderful blessing!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and my two sisters. I'm so glad you have some. We all need people like this.
ReplyDeleteThree twins. It sounds awesome to be a part of that group. My best friends are my husband and mom, but I do have some buddies I go out with occasionally. Good times.
ReplyDeleteDL, I just realized in your "snippet" your MC has three best friends and a girl. Maybe your best friends live close together in your stories.
ReplyDeleteJennie, you kept in contact with a kindergarten friend? That's awesome! Your friendships must have longevity.
Mary, it's so good you have intimacy between you that doesn't stop with distance.
Shannon, thank you. :) Good things come in threes.
Kelly H-Y, I completely agree.
M. Gray, aren't sisters the greatest?!
Roxy, that's awesome you're so close to your family. I hope my daughters say that when they grow up.
I am learning how to be a close friend, and learning to be vulnerable. I am grateful for my husband, my friend Mary, and other girlfriends. There are many coming into my life who I am learning to trust with my true self, my true pain and joy!
ReplyDeleteCatherine ~ You are very perceptive!!
ReplyDeleteJema, beautifully and openly said.
ReplyDeleteDL, :)
Close friends are amazing! I love being able to be myself around them! My husband of course is my number one fan as am I his!
ReplyDeleteI have two very close friends, though they live quite a few miles away. I live in Houston, one lives in Los Angeles and one in Des Moines however I will say that we email daily and never miss a beat, and the minute we're together it's like we've never been away from one another! I'm actually so excited because I get to see both of them in April, my dear friend in LA is getting married and I'm a bridesmaid!!!
Awe awesome post! You are so my favorite right now!
Sweet post! I have two best friends & I am blessed to work with them all the time. One is another teacher in our school & the other is the wife of another staff person. It's still hard to do just "fun" stuff together though! Gotta work at it!
ReplyDeleteI have to be quick--my two-year-old wants stories--but I had to tell you we love your friend picture. Gwenyth kept pointing to them and saying "I like this one the best." Of course, she liked all of them the best!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about my best friends! I like them all the best.
Jen, my sister lived 12-14 hours away for many years so I know the excitement of getting to see someone you love and miss. I hope you have a blast at the wedding. And thank you!!
ReplyDeleteBrenda, how awesome you're able to work with them! But yes, fun times are important too. :)
Myrna, oooooooh how sweet! My favorite's the dark haired girl (which is why she gets the close-up lol). But yes, best friends are ALL the best.
I know exactly how that feels as well!!! One my sisters lives in Hawaii and that is a lot farther than my friends are!! Thank goodness for skype!! She is about to have a baby but due to the wedding I'll miss the birth! However I feel a nice vacation to Hawaii in October! Thanks I'm sure I'll post pictures!
ReplyDeleteMy true friends bring out my true self. Thanks, JeMA, you bring out the best in me!
ReplyDeleteJen, vacation to Hawaii in October? Um, yes! Especially with a newborn baby!! I adore tiny cries and gurgling noises. Not to mention the pure squishy-ness.
ReplyDeleteMary, don't they? I think it's because everything is cushioned in love so it's easier to be relaxed.
Excellent art.
ReplyDeleteWe have 3 young children so it makes friend time difficult. It is a good thing that my spouse is my best friend.
Slamdunk, thank you! :) Yes, I remember when my three were small and it was difficult to get out. That season will pass quickly (too quickly). It's wonderful you're close to your spouse. My husband is my best friend too, so I can relate.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun blog! Hmmm, three close friends. I have four: my husband and three grown children. Can't imagine life without them. :)
ReplyDeleteKathi, thanks! (Great name by the way) I love when people talk about their grown children being among their best friends. Mine aren't grown yet, but I hope to say the same.
ReplyDeleteI kinda view you bloggers as my best friends. Other people expect so much more of me that I am unable to deliver whereas with bloggers acceptance is the order of the day. I realy realy enjoy your posts and can't wait to get back to a computer to read your blogs. God bless you, you encourage me allways.
